Composed following the lunar eclipse of April 8, 2024, Eclipsed: In Selene's Shadow evokes the spirit of Selene and her brother Helios, the moon and sun of Greek mythology, as their chariots traverse the sky to usher in night and day. The opening four-note motif was suggested by a third-year Parnassus orchestra student, and many others proposed improvements that were incorporated into the final version.
